            To my half pay as Brigade Major to Genl Herkemer from 6th Augt 1777 to 25th March 1782, is 55 months & 19 Days a [at] 25 Dollars per month.  556..6..8

            Many of these were destroyed or badly burned in the capitol fire of 1911.  These accounts refer to men that were owed money for their services during the War of Independence. 
            In many cases surviving spouses and or children put in claims for their husband and or father’s pay if he died during the War.
Note: Major Frey is collecting half pay for being wounded and taken prisoner at the Battle of Orskany on 6 August 1777.

Note:  Adam Hartman was shot in the shoulder in a skirmish with the Indians on 29 October 1780 near Fort Dayton.  Captain Hans Marcus Demuth was also captured at this time.  His account for half pay is due for his wound as he was unable to serve as a soldier during his time of convalesce.

Note: Peter was wounded in the knee on 6 August 1777 at the Battle of Oriskany.  Why 1779 is not listed is unknown unless he had made a claim for it at ad Covenhoven but it has now been changed to Conover.

Note:  Thomas Malloy was serving as a private in Captain Abraham Livingston’s Company in Lieutenant-Colonel Cmdt [commandant] Marinus Willett’s Regiment of New York State Levies in 1781.
            Thomas was detached at the time of his Capture to a Company of Rangers raised from the Levies and under the Command of Lieutanants Solomon Woodworth and Richard Randolph Wilson.  Woodworth andWilson were killed along with several others in the 7 Sept 1781 ambush.
            The site of the ambush and burial site of those killed are near the Smith Road, Town of Herkimer, Herkimer County, NY.  A marker marks the area near the ambush site.

Note: Christopher W. Fox and John Bradpick [Breadbakd] were Captain in Col. Jacob Klock’s Regiment of Tryong County Miilitia [2nd Regt].  They were both wounded at the Battle of Oriskany on 6 August 1777.
            Jacob Radenaer [Ratnour, Radnor] served as a private in Captain Adam Leipe’s [Lipe] Company in Col. Samuel Campbell’s Regiment of Tryon County Militia [First Regt].  Jacob was wounded in the left thigh at the Battle of New Dorlach [present day area of the village of Sharon Springs.]
