Pension Application for Isaac Adriance

            On this seventeenth day of June 1844 personally appeared before me the undersigned one of the Judges of the Court of common Pleas in and for the County of Dutchess aforesaid Isaac Adriance of the town of Fishkill County & State aforesaid aged 83 years who being first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of congress passed June 7th 1832, that he entered the service in behalf of the United States in the Revolution against Great Britain and served as follows.
            That he was enrolled in the year 1776 in Captain Joseph Horton’s Company in the town of Fishkill and County of Dutchess aforesaid.  And that in the year of 1777 he was out under Captain Hill under the command of Colonel John Bailey at Fort Constitution and remained in said service about six weeks commencing his services sometime in the month of August of that year as near as he can recollect.
            Declarant further states that he was out on militia duty under Captain George Brinkerhoof commencing his services about the first of September 1777 and served from six to eight weeks at Continental Village.
            And that in month of October 1777 he entered the service and served about four weeks at Fishkill Landing in the County of Dutchess under Lieut John Wiltsie.
            And that in the year of 1778 he was out under Captain Fowler under the command of Colonel Jacob Griffin and remained in said service about seven or eight weeks at No. 2 Galloshill in the spring of that year.
            And that in the year of 1778 in the summer of that year he entered the service and served under different officers and master workman whose names he cannot recollect at Fort Put and done Militia duty occasionally during that service and served about three months as a private soldier.
            And that in the Fall of 1778 Declarant further states that he was drafted and served under Colonel Thomas Ostrander commanded by Colonel Field and marched to Peenpack on the frontier in Ulster County against the Indians and served about six weeks.
            Declarant further states that he was drafted and served under Captain Thomas Storm under the command of Colonel Abraham Thomas Storm under the command of Colonel Abraham Brinkerhoff commencing about the 15 day of June 1779 and served in the capacity of a Corporal in said Company six or seven weeks at Buds place which was then Head Quarters of the Regiment.
            And that he served about ten days under Captain Storm at Fishkill in the month of May in the year of 1779.
            Declarant further states that he was called out on alarms at various times under Captain Joseph Horton during said war and must have served fifteen months or more during said war as near as he can recollect and that he has no records in his possession to prove his services and must rely on the records in the War Department to support his claim.
            This declarant further states that the reason why he has not applied for a pension before is that he did not hear for some time after the passage of the Law of 1832 that any such law had passed.  And that during the last two or three years he has been enquiring for proof of living witnesses and that he can find none living who served with him during said war.  (Signed) Isaac Adriance.
