Pension Application for Noah Agard

Conn. & New York.  Town of Catherine, Tioga County.  Noah was a private, served eleven months 1775.
            Noah Agard of Litchfield Discahrg by the head doctor and by order of the general at fort George in general Hospital.  Noah Agard.
            General Hospital Fort George 18 Apr. 1776.  This may certify to whom it concerns that I have this day discharged Noah Egard late a soldier in Col. V.Schaick Regiment & Capt. Martin’s Comp’y being of opinion he can be of no further service this campaign.  By order of the general Jon N. Peth, Director

            On the 12th day of May 1818 before me the subscriber one of the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the County of Tioga in the State of New York, personally appears Noah Agard aged sixty two years resident in the Town of Catherine in Tioga County, who being by me first duly sworn doth depose and say on his oath make the following declaration, in order to obtain the provisions made by the late act of Congress—entitled an act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the Revolutionary war; that he the said Noah Agard enlisted into the service of the United States in the month of November in the year 1775 at Litchfield in the State of Connecticut for the term of one year, in the company of Capt. Elieazer Curtis in Colonel VanSkoyks Regt in the New York troops and served in the above Colo. Vanskoyks Regiment about one year, at the northward about Lake Champlain and so on into Canada as far as Laperia and then returned back up the Lake to fort George on Lake George in the State of New York and remained there until discharged which was about the middle of September in the year 1776 and this deponent saith that he has no other evidence in his power of his said Services to furnish the war department, that through misfortune he is now reduced to indigent circumstances, and stands in need of the assistance of his country for support.  That he has no pension nor ever has had from the government of the United States nor granted him to his knowledge by any law of the United States.
            Sworn to and declared before me the 12th day of May in the year aforesaid.
            I Phineas Catlin one of the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the above County of Tioga aforesaid do certify that it appears to my satisfaction that the said Noah Agard did serve in the Revolutionary War as stated in the preceding declaration against the common enemy, and I now transmit the proceedings and testimony had before me to the secretary for the war department pursuant to the directions of the above mentioned acts of Congress—given under my hand at Catherine Town this 12 day of May 1818.  Phineas Catlin.  Judge of the Court of Common Pleas.
