Pension Application for Jesse Allen

R.112 (Widow: Elizabeth Eckler, maiden name.)
State of Pennsylvania
Bradford County SS.
            Before me. JD. Goodnough Esq a Justice of the peace in and for said County personally appeared John Allen who being duly sworn according to law doth on his oath depose and say that he is the son of Jesse and Elizabeth Allen—that he is fifty three years on the 18th of last August—That he was born in [?] in the said County where his father and mother then lived [Greene] and continued to live until their decease.  That he learned his father frequently speak of his being in the Revolutionary service as a private at the battle of Quebec, and of his being near to Genl Montgomery when he fell, but he does not recollect the names of any of the officers under whom he enlisted or served—except that of Genl Montgomery—nor does he remember any of his other services although he frequently heard him in conversations with others speak of his services during the war.  That his father and mother removed from near Catskill, State of New York to Bradford County at an early period.  That his father the said Jesse Allen died on the twenty fourth day of June 1824—That from that time his mother, the said Elizabeth lived with him, this deponent until she died—that she the said Elizabeth Allen died on the sixth day of September one thousand eight hundred and forty five.  (Signed) John Allen
