Pension Application for Thomas Allworth

            Be it known that before me John Niles one of the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas in & for the said County of Albany, on this 20th day of February in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven, personally appeared Mary Allworth a resident of the Town of Rensselaerville in said County, aged eighty three years on the tenth day of May last, who being first duly sworn, according to law, doth, on her oath, make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the act of Congress passed July 4, 1836.
            That she is the widow of Thomas Allworth, who was a private  in the militia of the State of New York, during the revolutionary war, and served as such in the company commanded by Captain Noah Wheeler, who then commanded a company of Militia in the Town of Amenia in the county of Dutchess and that he also served in Col. Hopkin’s Regiment of said County and as she believes in Col. Sutherland’s Regiment both before and after her marriage as herein after mentioned, as will more fully appear by the proofs hereto annexed.
            She further declares that she was married to the said Thomas Allworth, on the sixth of February in the year 1777; that her husband the aforesaid Thomas Allworth died on the 20th day of March in the year 1821; and that she has remained a widow ever since that period, as will more fully appear by reference to the proof hereto annexed.  And that she is unable to write her name from bodily infirmity & that her name before marriage was Mary Buttulph.  (Signed with her mark)  Mary Allworth
            Sworn to & Subscribed this 20th day of February 1837, (by making her mark) before me.  John Niles, a Judge of Albany County Courts.
            I hereby certify that the within named May Allworth being also infirm & unable to attend before a Court or Record, to make her declaration, I did on the 20th day of February 1837, attend at her residence in the Town of Rensselaerville, land she then & there took & subscribed the declaration & oath within mentioned.
            I also certify that I have been acquainted with the said Mary Allworth for many years, that I knew her formerly as the wife of the within named Thomas Allworth and that ever since his death she has remained & now is a widow.
