            Be it remembered that on the seventy third day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen appeared before me Thomas Dibble, one of the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the County of Saratoga and State of New York aforesaid Ashbel Andrews of the Town of Saratoga in the county of Saratoga and State of New York who being by me duly sworn says; that about the last of March or first of April in the year one thousand seven hundred and seventy nine this deponent was drafted as a soldier in a company commanded by Captain Lewis Stockwell in a Regiment of Levies commanded by Colonel Henry VanRensselaer raised for the defence of the Northern and western frontiers for the term of Nine Months, that this deponent accordingly joined the said company and served in the garrison at Fort Edward in the State of New York and continued in the service of the Revolutionary War until the expiration of the said nine months—That during the first part of his said service this deponent done duty as a corporal in the said company—That on the sixth day of June one thousand seven hundred and seventy nine he received the appointment of third serjeant [sic] in the said company the original of which is hereto annexed and that he this deponent performed the duty of Sergeant in said company until he was discharged which took place sometime in the month of January one thousand seven hundred and eighty.
            And this deponent further says that he is Fifty Seven years old and is in such circumstances as to require assistance for hi support.  (Signed) Ashbel Andrews
