            On this 28th day of November in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty two personally appeared before the Court of Common Pleas of the County of Broome, now sitting John Andrews resident of Colesville in the County of Broome & State of New York, aged seventy two years, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth, on his oath, make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the Act of Congress passed 7th June 1832. The he entered the service of the United States while residing at Fishkill, Dutchess Co., NY under the following circumstances: In the year 1777 he was enrolled in a company commanded by Captain Champlin of Fishkill being a substitute in place of a drafted man by the name of John Reasnor, the first of May 1777 he marched to Fort Constitution up on the Hudson River where he served three weeks & was dismissed. His regiment was commanded by Col. Burchard. The only company officers besides the Capt. That he now recollects was Lieut. Wheeler.
            In the middle of July 1777, he marched from Fishkill to Fort Constitution under the same Col. & in a company commanded by Capt. Veille of Oswego. He served at this time till the first of August same year when he was again discharged. This enrollment in Capt. Veille was under the following circumstances; a class of twelve or fourteen men kept in reserve & when this class were called on for a man, he was chosen by lot, it was his lot to be drawn at this time.
            Next year 1778 he was again called out in the month of June, and marched from FishKill to Fort Arnold on the Hudson River under Capt. Veille and Col. Barchard where he served another three weeks at the end of which time being again discharged.
            In the month of November 1779 he was again in service three weeks, under Capt. Veille at his native place Fishkill.
            The remainder of his service was in the capacity of a minute man under Col. Vandenberg & Capt. Lamb a Continental officers who had the charge of Continental Stores in the Town of Bateman This militia service he commenced next year 1780 in the month of October and he continued in the same till the end of the war, during this period of service he stood ground over the Continental Stores at Bateman Town, went out frequently in pursuit of Tories & once helped take three persons who were stealing horses and engaged in robbery. Two of whom, were hanged.
            Since the war he has resided at Fishkill, and in the Town of Bateman & now resides at Colesville, Broom county NY.
            He was born in the Town of Fishkill, Dutchess County, State of New York in the year 1760, January 15th. He has no record of his age.
            He never received any written discharge from the service, nor has he any documentary evidence of his service nor does he know any living witness by whom he can establish his service. There is no clergyman residing in the neighborhood of the applicant to whom he is known.
            He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or an annuity except the present & he declares that his name is not on the pension roll of any agency in any state. (Signed) John Andrews
