            On this twenty fourth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty three personally appeared before me, Herman Knickerbacker first Judge of the Court of Common Pleas for said County, Richard Anthony, now a resident of the town of Schaghticoke in the said County aged seventy two years who being first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress passed June 7th 1832.
            That he first entered the service of the United States as a volunteer or private in a company of militia commanded by Captain Adial Sherwood, first Lieutenant Ezekiel Roberts, Second Lieutenant Cornelius BBaldwin in a regiment of militia commanded by Col. VanSchaick in the month of August 1779 at a place then called Saratoga in the County of Albany, but which place is now the town of Easton in the County of Washington, that he this deponent went with said company to Fort Edward and was there on guard in a scouting party so called, and this deponent was in actual service one week when this deponent was discharged.
            That in the month of October 1779 this deponent again volunteered his services as a private in a company of Militia commanded by Captain John Nelson & marched again to Fort Edward and was there in actual service one week in the same regiment when this deponent was again discharged. That in the same month of October 1779 this deponent again volunteered his services as a private in the company commanded by Captain Nelson one Varnum Lieutenant in the regiment commanded by Col. Van Schaick &b marched with said company to Palmertown and ten stood sentry & was in actual service ten days when this deponent was discharged.
            This deponent further says that on the 1st day of April 1780 this deponent again volunteered his services as a private in the said company of militia commanded by Captain Adial Sherwood, Lieutenants Roberts & Baldwin in the regiment commanded by said Col. VanSchaick and marched to Fort Ann & was there stationed & was employed with scouting parties & marched with scouting parties three or four times to Whitehall & continued at fort Ann with said Company & was in actual service from the said 1st day of April 1780 until about the 1st day of November 1780 when this deponent & all the said company except some were taken prisoners by the British troops commanded by Major Carlton that this deponent was taken as a prisoner of war to Fort George, from thence to Ticonderoga & was then delivered over to the hostile Indians who took this deponent as a prisoner to Montreal where this deponent continued a prisoner and most of the time confined in prison until the close of the revolutionary war & until news of peace arrived when this deponent was discharged from prisoner & returned home.
            This deponent has no documentary evidence of his services. This deponent further says that he was born at Rhode Island on the 27th day of April 1761 as he is informed & believes but has no record of his age. That he removed to the town of Easton County of Washington, then the town of Saratoga in the County of Albany at the age of 17 & has ever since resided at Easton until a few months since during which this deponent has resided at Schaghticoke —That he this deponent knows no clergyman who can testify to this deponent’s service—that this deponent is aged, feeble & inform & wholly unable to go before any court to make application for a pension without great bodily suffering & more expense than this deponent is able to defray. That this deponent by reason of his inability & infirmity has delayed his application for several months in order to obtain the affidavit of Roswell Roy which is hereto annexed, who was taken prisoner with this deponent.
            That this deponent hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or annuity except the present & he declares that his name is not on the pension roll of any agency & further saith not. (Signed with his mark) Richard Anthony.

            On this fifth day of July A.D. eighteen hundred and fifty five personally appeared before the Court of Sessions of Washington County of the State of New York William Wilson a resident of Cambridge in the County of Washington and State aforesaid aged fifty seven years who first being duly sworn according to law, doth, on his oath, make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the law of the United States passed the 3d February 1853. That he is the next friend of Martha Anthony, who is the widow of Richard Anthony deceast. [deceased] That he doesn’t know the names of the officers under whom he served but that all the necessary testimony is on file at the department at Washington as said Richard Anthony was a Pensioner of the United States under the act of 7th June 1833, at the rate of eighty dollars per annum and that said Martha Anthony is aged 83 years and is insane and has been for several years last past and is not capable of transacting any kind of business.
            He further declares that he believes that the said Martha was married to the said Richard Anthony about during the summer of eighteen hundred seventeen as will more fully appear by an affidavit hereunto annext. That the said Richard Anthony died at Pittstown on the ninth day of April 1850, that she was not married to him prior to the second January 1800 eighteen hundred but at the time above stated. He further declares that the said Martha Anthony is now the widow of the said Richard Anthony.
            He further states that he is son in law of the above named Martha Anthony and that she is supported and cared for at his expence. (Signed) William Wilson.
            This is to certify that satisfactory testimony has been produced before the said court to satisfy said court that Martha Anthony is deranged and not capable to acting for herself and that she is the widow of Richard Anthony and said Richard Anthony was a pensioner of the United States.
