Pension Application for Andrew Lee

S.13748
Conn.
Powles Hook.  Sept 13th AD.  Number 5
My Dear—
Brother Saml was here yesterday, he came down to help home Christopher Attwater, but he died before he got  home, leaving a widow (Lydia Price lets, who refd to live with Saml)—Brother informs me that Mamma & [?] are much as they have been for a long time—Lee is better but yet very weakly—Dinah is dead, Friends in general as well as usual, particularly Doct Dana McHubbard & their ladies &c—Brother is now gone about 12 miles up the North River to help home Caleb Hough who is sick—the Dysentery is nearly gone from among us—the putrid fever is what makes me sick with the camps—there is a continual cannonading from the [?] to N. York & also to Hell-Gate but very little damage is done by it—we look every day for a general attack, when it will come God only knows—I hear the Malitia have among you are marching this way if so I may likely soon have the pleasure to be some of them, tho I do not expect they will come further than Kingsbridge, which is upwards of 18 miles from this place—
I know not when this will reach you as I send by a soldier, who on account of infirmity is dismissed & going to Windham.
