On this 21 st day of September 1832, personally appeared in open court before the Court of Common Pleas in and for the County of Montgomery now sitting, George Eaker, resident of the Town of Johnstown, County of Montgomery and State of New York, who this applicant states that he cannot produce sufficient testimony verified by any record kept by any church he knows or by any family record he can find but was satisfied that he must at least be aged seventy years old, who being first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of Congress passed June 7 th , 1832.
That he entered the service of the United States under the following named officers and served as herein stated.
That the applicant declares that he entered into the service of the United States for nine months in the year 1781. Enlisted under the Capt. Garrett Putman and also again in the year 1781. Enlisted under the aforesaid, Capt. Garret Putman also for nine months the second year and that he hath served his time to the completion of the full term for nine months in each year. That Victor Putman was their Serg't and Solomon Woodworth Ensign to the best of the claimant's knowledge for both years for the time aforesaid.
That this claimant declares that he did belong to Col. Dubois' Regiment although sometimes on certain emergencies under the command of Col. Willett.
That he immediately before the Battle in October 1781, did procure a substitute vizt a person by the name of Shaver, then in the Town of Canajohary, for one month. When this applicant returned to his place of residence vizt Town of Johnstown, when on the next day after, without being warned or noticed, volunteered and went into Johnstown Battle under the command of Col. Willett, which took place on the 25 th day of October 1781, against Maj. Ross from Canada, with a large force of incendiaries, that he declares that he always had an attachment to the cause of liberty as further evidenced.
That this applicant further declares that he became a substitute for Jacob Roth who belonged to Capt. Sam'l. Sackets company in the United States service for one month only when Roth's time would have expired in the year 177? That this applicant declares that James Williams, Jacob Philips with their further declarations can verify his service for the fist nine months of the year 1780 and in the year 1781.

Personally appeared before me the undersigned fist Judge of the County of Montgomery and State aforesaid, George Eacker of the Town of Johnstown, County and State aforesaid, who being duly sworn deposes and saith, that by reason of old age and the consequent loss of memory, he cannot swear positively as to the precise length of service but according to the best of his recollections, he served not less that the period mentioned, in the following vizt
1778 for his Uncle Abraham Eacker in the summer, he was then residing in the Town of Palatine, eas drafted to march to the German Flats at which time this deponent became a substitute for him, his uncle and accordingly marched there as a private soldier at a distance of at least thirty miles and there remained for some time but the particular period not able to mention, that this deponent then residing in the Town now Johnstown, for at least 15 days.
1780 Then enlisted under Capt. Garrett Putman's company as a private in the Reg't commanded by Col. Dubois, that he served for nine months.
1781 Then in the spring that year, again enlisted and served for nine months, as a private soldier under the said Capt. Garrett Putman, continued therein until his term hath expired.
1782 Also became a substitute for Jacob Roth in that year, then served one month in the Continental Troops under Capt. Sacket's Company, when the time of Roth hath expired.
That this deponent declares that to the best of he recollection that he hath been stationed at the following different places respectively, vizt at Sacandaga Block House, at Johnstown Fort guarded the Jaol at Fort. Served for some considerable time at Fort Plank, and at Fort Stanwix, also at Caughnawaga, when and at which places, forts and block houses, this deponent declares that he hath been performing services as thereunto required, during the period of his enlistments in the year 1780 and 1781, and for such service I claim a pension.

Dear Sir:
Reference is made to your letter relative to George Eaker, a soldier of the Revolutionary War.
The record of the only George Eker that is found on the Revolutionary War records of this office, all spellings of the name searched, is furnished you herein as found in the papers on file in the Revolutionary War pension claim, S.10602, based upon his military service in that war.
The date and place of birth and the names of the parents of Geroge Eker are not shown.
While residing in Johnstown, Montgomery County, New York, George Eker enlisted and serviced as private in the New York troops as follows: from the summer of 1778, fifteen days as a substitute for his uncle, Abraham Eacker, who was then residing in Palatine, New York; exact dates of service and names of officers not given; again in 1778, exact dates not shown, one month in Captain Samuel Sackett's Company; in 1780, nine months in Captain Garrett Putman's Company, Colonel Dubois' Regiment; and in 1781, nine months from the spring of that year, in Captain Garrett Putman's company, Colonels Dubois' and Willett's regiments and was in the Battle of Johnstown.
He was allowed pension on his application executed September 21, 1832, while residing in Johnstown, Montgomery County, New York. At that time he stated that he had no record of his age but he was certain that he was aged at least seventy years. He signed George Eker.
There is no reference to wife or children.
In order to obtain the date of last payment of pension, the name and address of person paid and possibly the death date of soldier, you should address the Comptroller General, General Accounting Office, Records Division, this city, and cite the following data: “George Eaker (as his name was borne on the pension roll), Certificate No. 24114, issued November 1, 1833, rate $65.00 per annum, commenced March 4, 1831, Act of June 7, 1832, New York Agency.”
