Pension Application for Samuel Gray, Adjutant

On this 11th day of September 1840 personally appeared in open Court being
a Court of Records in the County of Kane and State of Illinois, Nicholas Gray,
Samuel S. Gray and Jacob Gray, all of the county and state aforesaid who being
duly sworn doth depose and swear that they together with Samuel Gray, Adam
Gray, John Gray. Andrew S. Gray, Mary Loucks (wife of William Snell) all of
the State of New York are all and the only children of Samuel Gray late of
Palatine in the County of Montgomery and State of New York deceased, that
they have good reason to believe that their father the said Samuel Gray served
at least two years in the grade of an officer during the Revolutionary War
as will show fully appear by reference to the records in the War Department
of the United States and the Comptrollers Office of the State of New York
and the evidence in addition thereto to be procured in the State of New York
that their father the said Samuel Gray died on the ____ day of March 1832
and as they age advice? And verily believe without having applied for or received
that compensation to which he was entitled by the Act of Congress passed 7th
June1832 and in fact he could not have done so having died previous to its
passage. They therefore in accordance with the provisions of said Act of June
7th 1832 and in connection with the aforementioned Samuel, Adam, Andrew S.,
William, Mary and Catharine hereby make application for the amount that would
have been due their father the said Samuel Gray viz from the 4th day of March
1831 until the day of March 1832 on which day he died.

On this 10th day of March 1841 personally appeared before the Court of Common
Pleas of the said County of Montgomery now sitting, John Gray, Andrew S. Gray,
William Gray and Catherine Snell (wife of William Snell) residents of the
Town of Palatine in said county who being duly sworn do depose and swear that
they together with Nicholas Gray, Daniel S. Gray and Jacob Gray of Kane County
State of Illinois, Adam Gray of Erie County New York, and Samuel Gray and
Mary Loucks (wife of George Loucks) of Jefferson County in State of New York
are all the only children of Samuel Gray late of Palatine in said County of
Montgomery deceased. That they have reason to believe that their father the
said Samuel Gray served tow years and upwards in the grad of a commissioned
officer in the Militia of the State of New York in Colonel Jacob Klock’s
Regiment and in the Battalion Service of the Militia, states during the War
of the revolution as with may fully appear to record in the War Department
of the United States in the Comptrollers Office of the State of New York and
the attestation of surviving widow here with accompanying. That their father
the said Samuel Gray did on the 19th Day of March 1832 and without having
applied for or received the confirmation to which he would have been entitled
under the Act of Congress passed 7th June 1832. That ey therefore in accordance
with the provisions of said act and in connection with the aforesaid Samuel
Gray, Nicholas Gray, Daniel S. Gray, Jacob Gray and Mary Loucks and Adam Gray
hereby make application for the amount that would have been due their father
the said Samuel Gray. Vizt from the 4th day or March 1831 to the 17th day
of March 1832 in which day he died.
