Pension Application for Benjamin Salts

W.7159 (Widow: Jane.  Married 25th December 1840 by Reverend Mr. Lowry, Methodist Clergyman, Morristown, County of St. Lawrence.  Jane was the widow of David Bloss, married by one Holibert a Justice of the Peace at the town of Whitestown 2nd February AD 1802 or 1803.  Maiden name was Jane Templeton.  First husband died at Sackett’s Harbor 2nd July AD 1835.  Her second husband died 2nd May 1855.)

            On this twenty sixth day of March AD 1855 personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace within & for the County and State aforesaid Benjamin Salts aged ninety two years & upwards a resident of the town of Morristown in the County of St. Lawrence and State of New Your who being duly sworn according to law declares that he is the identical Benjamin Salts who was a private in the company commanded by Captain Denny in the Regiment of New York Militia commanded by Colonel Hays in the Revolutionary War with Great Britain.
            That he enlisted or volunteered at Schenectady in said State sometime in the month of March in the year 1780 for the term of one year and continued in actual service in said war for the term of eleven months & upwards, and was honorably discharged at Fishkill in the State of New York in the month of March AD 1781.
            He further declares that he is now a pensioner of the United States and draws a pension of forty three dollars and eighty eight cents per year under a certificate of Pension bearing date the 20th day of December AD 1833 and that said pension is payable at the Albany Agency NY.
            He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the Bounty Land to which he may be entitled under the act approved March 3, 1855.
            He also declares that he has not received a Warrant for Bounty Land under this or any other act of congress nor made any other application therefor.  (Signed) Benjamin Salts
