Pension Application for Comfort Sands

My Dear Sir,
            A very ancient maiden friend of mine, Miss Julia M.Sands has requested me to aid her in getting information as to the title of her deceased father Comfort Sands Esq. to a pension in consequence of his services in the revolutionary war, in which he occupied the post first of a paymaster & afterwards as a contractor.
            I believe she has already addressed your bureau & if you can give her any facility you will oblige a worthy & patriotic family as well as, your friend & Servt.  J W.  [?] Murray.

            On this ninth day of September AD 1858, before me a commissioner of Deeds and duly commissioned and sworn personally came Julia M. Sands a resident of the City of New York and a person whom I certify to be credible and entitled to belief, who on her oath duly administered according to law, depose and states, that she is the daughter of comfort Sands late of the City of New York and State and lastly of Hoboken New Jersey.  That Comfort Sands her said father was duly commissioned Auditor General on the Twenty fourth day of July AD one thousand seven hundred and seventy six and that he was also commissioned Paymaster on the fifth day of April AD one thousand seven hundred and seventy seven and in the capacity aforesaid served in the War of the Revolution.  She further states that Comfort Sands, her said father died on the twenty second day of September AD 1834 Testate leaving his wife Julia this deponent’s mother, his widow and this deponent and declarant only heirs and executrix.  That this deponent’s mother died on the twenty-seventh day of March AD 1856 leaving this deponent sole heir and heiress.
            The facts stated will be corroborated by official documents hereto annexed whereupon this deponent asks to be allowed and paid all sums of money due her by reason of the services of her said father in the war of the revolution.
            She further [states] that the sums of money now claimed and hereby asked for by the declarant are all pension, arrearages, and back pension which may be due her by virtue of any lawns now in force.  Julia M. Sands.
            Sworn to and subscribed before me and I certify that the declarant is the person she represents herself to be and that I have no interest in the result of this case and am not concerned in its prosecution.
