Pension Application for William Schultis or Schuldus

[Ink has faded, pension difficult to transcribe.]  1782 served Captain Adam Dietz.
Pension was rejected because the marriage took place after the 1st January 1800.
State of New York
County of Albany.
            [???] on the seventeenth day of march in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and fifty one personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace authorized to administer oaths within and for the town county and state aforesaid Catherine Schultis aged seventy two years a resident of the town of [Knox?] County of Albany & State aforesaid who being by me first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath depose and say that she was married to William Schultis in the church of Beaverdam on the 29th day of June 1800.  [???] that her said husband departed this life on the 11th day of April 1808 aged 45 years and 3 months and twenty five days.  This deponent said that her said marriage is recorded in the record of the church of Beaverdam and [?] deponent saith there is no further private record of the death of her said husband William Schultis and the only evidence of the [can’t read a sentence] residence of the said Willaim Schultisis the identical man who was involved [?????] commanded by Capt.  [?] in the year 1782 in a fort in Beaverdam, Albany County, where he did duty as this deponent verily believes and is informed, that he said husband, did duty in said fort from the month of March 1782 to November of the same year.
            This deponent saith further that the reason why she has not applied for pension previous to this time is that she was [?] from the fact that she was married after the year 1800.  This deponent saith further that she is now informed and verily believes that by recent acts of congress she is entitled to a pension for his services rendered by her said husband William Schultis.
            This deponent therefore makes application for pension under the acts granting pension to widows of deceased revolutionary soldiers.  This deponent saith that her name before her said marriage was Catherine [Hernbergen?]  (Signed with her mark)  Catharine Shultis
            Sworn to and subscribed before me the day and year above written and I do hereby certify that the above declarant is a respectable aged lady and do believe her statement entitled to both credit and belief.  Benjamin V. Gardner, Justice of the Peace.

[Transcriber’s note:  In a letter to the archives dated June 9, 1914, Myron Shultis stated that William was born Jan. 30th 1761, died Apr. 11, 1808.]
