            On this sixteenth day of October in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty four personally appeared before Ezra Lockwood Esq., one of the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas, of the County of West Chester the same court being a Court of Record, Henry Seaman of the [???] in the said County aged seventy four years, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth on his oath make the following Declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress passed 7th June 1832. That he entered the service of the United States under the following named officers and served as herein stated. That early in the spring of the year 1778 he the said Henry seaman being attached as a private to the company of Militia commanded by Captain James Teller in the Regiment of Colonel Samuel Drake was ordered out with the said company and marched down from South Salem in the said County of west Chester to Pines Bridge in said County that the said company continued on actual duty then in the field for the term of two months, remaining with the company for that time, they were then discharged and declarant returned home.
            That in the fall or Autumn of the same year the said Henry Seaman was again called out as a private in the company aforesaid in the Regiment aforesaid and marched down with said company from South Salem aforesaid to Pines Bridge aforesaid that he continued in actual duty there with the said company in the field for the term of two months, that he was then discharged and returned home.
            That in the year 1779 he this declarant still remained attached as a private to Captain Teller’s Company in the Regiment aforesaid and was called out with the said company into actual service and performed service in the field for three months during this year; that such service was performed at a place called and known by the name of Carson Ponds, and also at Peck’s Kill in said County, that he was with the American forces at Carson pond when the British Troops made an attack upon them there. This declarant had the good fortune to escape when many of his companions in arms were either killed or taken prisoner, at the expiration of his service he was honourably discharged, he has a distinct recollection that he continued in actual service this year for the term of three months, as above set forth.
            In the spring of the year 1780 declarant was again ordered out in the said company of Captain Teller in the Regiment then under the command of Colonel Thaddeus Crane as a private and marched to Pines Bridge in the County aforesaid, that he remained there on actual duty as a private as aforesaid for three months when he was discharged. In the year 1781 Declarant was again ordered out as a private in Captain Teller’s Company in the Regiment of Colonel Thaddeus Crane that he was in actual service during this year for three months, that one tour of duty of one month was performed at North Castle in said County one tour of duty of one month & a half was performed at PeeksKill in said County and one tour of duty of one half months was performed at Pines Bridge in said County and one tour of duty of one half month was performed at Pines Bridge in said County making in the whole three months duty during this year that he cannot recollect distinctly at what time in the year last aforesaid he was called out to perform duty as aforesaid but he does recollect that he was on duty with the said company at the these several places, last mentioned and continued on duty for the respective periods above last mentioned.
            In the month of June 1782 this declarant was again ordered out as a private in Captain Teller’s Company in the Regiment of Colonel Thaddeus Crane that he marched with the said Company to White Plains in said County that he remained there in actual service one month. That in the month of August in this year he was again ordered out as a private in the company and regiment last aforesaid and marched to PeeksKill in said County that he continued on duty there for one week. And this declarant further states that all and singular the various service and tour of duty, so as aforesaid performed were performed in the field in a regularly [?] Corps called into service by Competent authority that during all the time of the performance of the various services & tour of duty as aforesaid he the Declarant was not engaged in any civil pursuit.
            He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or annuity except the present and declares that his name is not on the pension roll of the agency of any state, that he has no evidence of his service and knows of no person whose testimony he can procure who can testify to his service except Samuel Wilson whose affidavit is hereunto annexed and to which he now refers.
